Curatorial Statement.

Zindzi Harley’s curatorial practice explores the histories and narratives of the African Diaspora in contemporary art, material culture, fashion, and design. Her scholarship is an anthology of the influence and impact of Afro-feminism on the transformation of cultural institutions, examining the lived philosophy of Black women’s arts labor through the lens of craft practice, and the importance of the Black museum in contemporary culture. Harley’s work as an arts professional leverages institutional structures and digital tactics as a means of activism, connecting the public with the museum as a space for discovery, connection, and pop culture engagement.
